David P. “Satch” Deno

Marcy, NY-David P. “Satch” Deno, 61, passed away March 17, 2019, peacefully at home with his family by his side after a long, hard battle with cancer.

Satch was born on February 20, 1958, to the late Barbara and George Deno.  For the past 5 years, his wife Donna (Bryce) was by his side every step of the way.  They were married on October 17, 2009 in Marcy.  Together, they accomplished many things on Satch’s Bucket List that included attending Sturgis Bike Week in 2017 and going to Nashville to visit the Grand Ole Opry in November, 2018.

Satch proudly served in the US Air Force as a Canine Security Specialist from 1976 to 1980. He was an avid camper, hunter and animal lover, including his birds Harleybird (deceased) and Bingo.  Some of Satch’s greatest loves in life included his bus, his Harley, Harley Rendezvous for over 30 years, collecting/drinking Jack Daniels, and spending time with friends. He coordinated Bikers for Animals through the Stevens – Swan Humane Society from 2012 to 2018 and was Commander of the Stittville VFW Post 8259 from 2014 to 2016 and he was also a member of the Officer Suds Beer Can Club.

Survivors include his wife Donna (Bryce), step-son Stephen Kuyer (Courtney) of Wallaceburg, Ontario, mother and father in law Dave and Dorothy Bryce of Wallaceburg, Ontario, sister in law Dori (Rick) Fledderus of Simcoe, Ontario as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins.

A celebration of Satch’s life will be held at 4 pm on Friday, March 29, 2019, at the Stittville VFW Upton Memorial Post #8259, 8999 Olin Rd, Stittville, NY.  Casual attire is encouraged. William C. Romain, Jr.

Cobleskill- William C. Romain, Jr. passed away March 1, 2019 at the age of 80 years young.

Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of William C. Romain, Sr. and Kathryn Elizabeth Romain. Bill grew up in Newtonville, NY attending Newtonville grade school. He then attended the Milne School in Albany graduating in 1956, when he enrolled at SUNY Cobleskill and graduated in 1958.

He married his lifelong love of 59 years, Judith A. Shutt. After being employed at Schoharie County Aglime and Remington Rand in Cobleskill, he opened a Texaco Service Station (Bill’s Texaco) on the east end of Cobleskill, along with a 24 hour Towing & Recovery business. He also started and promoted the Schoharie Valley Antique Auto Show for 35 years. Bill drove school bus for the Cobleskill Central School District for 14 years. After retiring from his business in 1994, he was employed by Cobleskill Stone Products for 20 years retiring in 2014. Bill loved antique cars, trucks, and tractors in addition to restoring antique toys.

Survivors include his wife Judy, two sons: William R. and Robert A., two daughters: Karen (Chad) Poist, Kathryn Christman, his two sisters: Karen Foster of Lake Placid and Barbara Ethier (Med) of Clifton Park, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Service Arrangements will be held at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St. Cobleskill, NY. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4PM to 8PM and a memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the funeral home.
